There will be history made for the “open wheel” world of Modifieds this weekend. Of course the race for Modifieds are big at #FALS Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Illinois for the annual “Prairie Dirt Classic” but also about 800+ miles east of there at Richmond Raceway in Kentucky. The “Beast of the East” is preparing to #UnleashYourInnerBeast as promoter Bill Lupinos quotes, with the fury of 800+ horsepower Modifieds on dirt for the first time at the 3/8th mile for a doubleheader weekend entitled the #SouthernSwing sanctioned by the DIRTcar Racing Renegades of Dirt National Modified Tour for the inaugural time.

That got me wondering, could we be seeing history in the making? Kentucky & the Richmond Raceway has been in a exciting “buzz” mode since the announcement of the track hosting this prestigious dirt open wheel entertainment back in March, now it’s finally here.

By the projections of possible pre-entries & feedback, we could possibly see this weekend’s event be one of the biggest ever for Kentucky in Modified dirt motorsports and for the Richmond Raceway. It all kicks off tonight with a $2000 to win program, headlined by the $3000 to win event this Saturday. There is a tremendous amount of word being spread that teams & competitors from the New York to the Carolinas, Kentucky to Virginia are coming. It’s exciting to know even the regulars of the track are not afraid & are prepared to go up against these national open wheel contingents. Bottom line anything can happen & history could be made.
